Saturday night I was sitting at the usual hang out here in Corpus Christi, when my friend asked if I felt like racing. I told him yes and he set it up. A guy in a plymouth laser with a built motor and turbo said he wanted to race. He supposedly ran 12.6 at the track all day long. I said lets do it. The guy asks if I wanted to race for money but I didnt have any on me. We got our tires sticky and lined up. I pulled a car and a half out of the hole and pulled another car or so top end. I head back to park and the cop pulls me over and slaps on the cuffs. I was in jail from 1:37am to 5:30 pm..pretty bad when a cop has nothing better to do than throw someone in jail for street racing. At least I won the race.

What kind of fines did you get. Should of got your friend to finance the race. That way you could of atleast had some money out of it. Instead you got stuck with the fines and he knows how fast your car is. In Chicago our racing is huge. Just try and look to see if Minty has ever posted a time or mod on here. And believe me i know people who have tried to find any info they can about his car on here.

Hey I just got arrested last week too. The charges are street racing/wreckless driving. I have to go to court next week. The real bad thing is Im currently in the Army and if the civilian side doesnt stick it to me the Army will.

I think the Army will regardless, so Im looking at fines, possibly suspended license, and getting demoted and the other crap from the army.

Well at least I didnt get busted racing an inferior vehicle. How about a 01 YZF-R6! Yeah and we ran even! He even had exhaust, which only adds maybe 5-7 hp but on a bike its like 50 hp for us! To bad I gotta deal with the law now, but hey you play you gotta pay.

Sooner or later your gonna get caught, after I go through with this trial I might not ever race again as I may be selling the TA considering what my financial situation will be like.

And insurance? Forget about it! The court actually sends your insurance provider a form showing the crime you commited and wreckless driving carries heavy consequences. Probably go sky high to its max.

I got nailed last year for street/drag racing. I was on a main road but no traffic 2:45am on a Sunday morning. I was approaching a red light and a red 5.0 with a cown hood and salleen rear deck spoiler was sitting at the light. I wasn't going to race because there were some local hotspot bars within 20 feet of where we were and all the people were starting to come out of the bars to go home, but no cars had left the lots yet. The 5.0 is in the left lane and me in the right. I look over at him and tell him nice car(it really was a clean 5 litre) and he says"man that thing is sweet" Then the driver looked over and kinda gave me a smirk. The light turned green and he dumped his clutch. All the people (including many of my friends, and people I know- chicks) heard him drop it so they all started looking and watching. My stupid a$$ decides "hey, I am not looking like I got smoked in front of all those people", so I drop it and chase him down. I think he was stock other then maybe mufflers because I had 4-5 cars on him as I hit third(keep in mind he left before me and I was running bald 275 F1s that I dumped the clutch on <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> ) I am way past him and slam 4th. Then I slam on the brakes after I realize I am doing 110-120mph in a 35mph zone. I am slowing down, but at about 75mph still when I see him coming up on me. I notice another car about 8-10 cars behind him. I tell me buddy "oh sh$t thats a cop!", and he said" no way, it looks like a lumina or something". I said" dude, a lumina doesn't catch up to a 5 litre!" I guess the kid in the 5.0 doesn't use his mirrors much because I thought we were still racing and blew past me(I was still at about 60 or so). The cop flipped his lights on next to me and pointed for me to pull over, and then caught up to the 5.0 and he pulled over. We all pulled into a large parking lot and shut off the cars. I did think about running when I first noticed the cop but my exhaust consisted of Grott headers, 3 inch random tech cats and 3 inch grott y-pipe... thats it, so stealth wasn't on my side. The cop walks up and asks for my license,registration, and proof of insurance and my passengers license too. He was in the Air force so he only had his ID. The kid in the stang was next to me with a look like he not only crapped his pants but was gonna puke too <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ! By this time 3 more local cops pull in and a state trooper. I thought for sure I was headed to the slammer, but the cop gave me a ticket for street/drag racing and asked" Mr. Flick do you make a habit of racing on my city streets?"(in a stirn, pi$$ed off voice). I had already gotten my ticket and I was pi$$ed(6 pt ticket, will have go get high risk insurance). I said,"No sir, usually I do it on your highway!", believe that. I still can't believe I said that. My buddy almost started laughing. The cop gave me a look like he couldn't believe I just said that. Then he said," well, maybe this will settle you a$$ down a bit, especially after Judge Swain get done with you!"(Swain was a major a$$hole). My court date was in a week, and I had no license in the meantime. I went to court and the court was full, from people with traffic offenses to people with duis and stealing... My turn... I get up there and the judge is reading my ticket and reads drag racing..With a puzzled look on his face, he says "let me get this straight, you were racing on Mentor Avenue at 2:45am?", I said "Yes, sir". He asked why. I told, him its was dumb and I got caught up in the moment. I do agree that I deserved the ticket and I pled no-contest. When I said no-contest he looked up at me like I was kidding, and so did everyone else in the court. He said, " are you sure thats your plea, most people in this case would plead not-guilty and come back for a court case". I said," well, I admit that what I did was dumb, and I deserve the citation no doubt,but I can't see paying for lawyer fees and wasting my time(work) and the courts time for something I stupidly did." He said, "very well then". My fiance was looking at me like "are you motherf$%^ing crazy". The judge then said, "the maximum penalty for this citation is : 6pts added to driving record, 90 days in jail, $5000.00 fine, and 5 year license suspension. I think the particulars of this situation, being as there hasn't been any recent violations(as he looks at me through his glasses tips on his nose). A penalty of: 60 days license suspension with priviledges, $500.00 fine+court cost($80.00), 6 months probation, driver improvemnet course(gives a 2 pt subtraction of the record, but the class is 8 hrs long on a Saturday), and an SR-22 filing on your insurance(if or any reason my insurance is cancelled my license will be suspended immediately). This citation will also bring about the reqirment for "HIGH-RISK" vehicle insurance". All in all I think I got off ok, and I think a lot of it had to do with my honesty and not trying to BS my way out of it. I ended up paying my fine within 3 weeks and successfully got the required insurance, took the course, and they took me off probation in 3.5 months and restored my driving license but i did get the 6 pts though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> . The moral of the story: if your gonna play don't do it were you can be caught <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

i just got hit the other night with my second spectator ticket! but it says bright as day "drag racing" right there on the ticket. First one they had us dead to rights and i asked him what it was for so i got hit for illegal taillights also.
This Sunday , there wasnt a person on the street and I was actually video taping a girl showing us her thong when the cops pulled in and roadblocked us! Everybody was just trying to run and hide, but you couldnt really run here, and the people that tried to hide just got busted for trespassing/arrested and got their vehicles towed for being on private property in this industrial area ! My issue is NOBODY WAS RACING!

In Ca. it's 23109A for the actual contest and 23109B for aiding and abetting. I got nailed for "A" while smoking a 5.0 on either side of me about 4 years ago in my 93Z. And there were 2 guys that had "B" when I went to court. After reading through everything for what seemed like 3 hours, he told me "$100 fine and 2 points if you plead guilty". I said "guilty". That was it. But I also had to pay for the impound for 1 day (only 1 day because my father in law used to be a cop and helped me get it out early). And my insurance went through the roof. The guys who got nailed for B got a $100 fine and a stern looking at. Maybe we should all buy bone stock Civic's and Hyundai's and race those. When those races happen, it's hard to tell they're actually racing. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />

I went to Jail on Xmas eve in 2001. I was on my way home from cousin's house in Pearland when I came to a light in Alvin heading south on hwy 35 right by Ron Carter. It is a two lane devided hwy. The light turned green and i took off at a normal pace with 1 car ahead of me and two to my left side. After about midway through 2nd, the car ahead of me was farting along and i decided to swithc lanes. Using my blinker i gunned it and moved over to the left lane and then saw a car ahead of me in tha lane. So i did a /
\ double lane change. I used my blinkers the whole time but made the mistake of staying in it after i passed the old foggies up. There so happen to be two DPS (a**holes) at the gas station on the corner. They happened to hear my supercharged 306 at the top of third and then when i went to 4th. Needless to say I stayed in it after i passed the cars, but that was because it was a cold night and hadnt gotten on it in a long time.

Well i think nothing of it because i didnt see the COPS, but one of them pulled me over about 6miles down the road. WHy it took him so long to pull me over i dont know because i slowed down after i got out of 4th. (Probly well over 120mph)
He told me to get out of the car and then though me on the trunk of my convt. while i was dressed in slacks and a leather jacket. He asked me wtf was my problem and y i was running people of the road. I told the FOCKER that i was just passing two cars and i used my blinkers and all. He then said i was going to JAIL for Wreckless driving and my car was getting impounded. I ask him to just give me a ticket and let me go because i wasnt driving wreckless.( I have had contest of speed and drag racing tickets b4 and drove away from them but this DICK was set on screwing up my nite because he had to work Xmas). So i get taken to jail and spend 18hrs locked up, from 10pm-4pm the next day.

(Never go to JAIL in ALVIN. The phones dont allow u to even make collect calls. Local calls only)

I had to get a lawyer and ended up paying a little over $1000 with court cost and lawyer fees and got the charge dropped from a class B misdameanor to a class C unsafe speed ticket. I dont plan on doing any street racing after this all happened and I am sure as HELL not going to drive my car on Holidays anymore. I will rolle the toyota truck of mine with its' stout 4cly everywhere i go this XMas.

Have a safe Holidays guys. And watch out for the pigs who have nothing better to do then be A&&holes.

this one sucks the big one Chris.. we all were pissed off just hearing that somone's car got loaded up on the flatbed and impounded but even more so when you're little bro said it was you.. Man we need to start a group therapy session! I cant believe how many people got hit for this. I felt sorry for myself at first but after hearing it from you guys I guess its pretty normal.

Man that SR-22 is no joke either, thats what Im really worried about. There has to be a way around having that form sent to your insurance company. I wonder if you could get another insurance company and have 2 separate policies, then after the new one receives the latest policy cancel them so your old one doesnt even know.

I gotta think of something I go to court on the 2nd, I already spoke with a few lawyers and they all told me to plead not guilty as sometimes the prosecutor might get intimidated and bargain with you at the next trial.

So heres what happened.

Im cruising with 3 friends and they are all on their crotch rockets, Im the only guy in a car. Well it ended up being me and a 01 YZF-R6 out in front and then we slow down, no harm done and pull over to the side of the freeway (big mistake)

Anyway after like maybe a minute an unmarked black camaro rolls up and the guys flashes his lights behind his windshield and gets out wearing a suit. I guess he was either a detective or off duty. He demands our ID card so we fork em over. Not giving this guy any problems.

So he returns after he runs us through the system and asks me who I was racing. Well at the time I didnt know because there were 3 red bikes and I didnt really look over at him. So he figured I was lying threw the book at me.

Well I guess he took offense to that but the way this guy was acting from the get he was being a hardass. He made comments like he asked me "what rank were you" not what rank are you, I guess making fun of the fact that I would probably be in trouble with the army.

So even if I wouldve told him who I was racing I dont think he wouldve granted me any degree of leniancy that other guy wouldve gotten arrested as well. So the evidence he has against me is the he paced us and witnessed us racing. I hope I have a chance of fighting this in court as a lot is weighing down on the outcome.

I could as you guys have experienced, get my license suspended, insurance through the roof, fines, and probation too. And the armys already talking about demoting me among other fun things.

I got a couple years back and the cop sent me off with a ticket which ended up getting my liceance suspended. Insurance somehow never went up and I never got pulled over on my suspended liceance. So if I learned anything from all this its to just keep on going. If you are winning a race and the cop is back there he can only get one of you. I do beg to differ with the whole you can't outrun moterola theory. I am 3/3 and can tell you that cop cars are only capable of doing about a 100 mph when they have the cherries on the roof. Undercovers with the lights inside or built into the headlighs will pull about 15 more mph though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Well since everyone is chiming in on their getting busted stories, I will too.

Me(00'T/A) and my friend(01'Z28) who also posts on this forum were talked into racing each other by our 2 non-functioning mustang owning friends. It was about 1am and we were bored with nothing better to do, though I would have done anything other than race on cop infested streets. But my friends said it was eaither that or we were going to call it a night. I didn't want to be the party pooper so I gave in. I was tired so I wanted to make it quick and somewhere close by instead of the usual spot by an oil refinery which was not far away, but far enough for me to rather goto bed and say screw it.

We finally head out to an intersection close by which crosses a highway where I had raced a few times before with no trouble. Anyway, light goes green, I natuarly don't hook up at all with the cold weather on street tires and being an M6. I dropped the clutch at less than 2k rpms and roasted the tires through 1st, then through 2nd, and when I was getting no traction halfway through 3rd I gave up. By this time my friend with the A4 was long gone.

When I catch up to him I see him pull in a parking lot of a food store so I follow. He asked me what happend and I said I got no traction and about halfway through our conversation we see "the lights" flashing behind us. The cops tell us to turn off our engines and get out of our cars. I looked at what the cops were driving and it was a freakin' green Grand Am. It had all the cop lights and stuff inside, but the 2 cops were both in street clothes and I only saw the badge of one of them. One cop(good cop) talks to my friend, asking him what mods he has on his car and they're having a good ol' time smiliing and chatting. The other cop(bad cop) reads me the freakin' riot act! Telling me all the stuff that happens when you get caught drag racing and this and that. Finally after his lecture is over he stares at me for a good 5 seconds without saying a word, he hands me my licence and says don't ever let me catch you doing this again. And to put sugar on top as he is getting in his car he tells me to learn how to drive stick. And EVERYONE here who knows how to drive stick and has been told that before knows how pissed that gets you <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> . I was about to say, "I know how to drive stick I just didn't get any ******* traction." But I figured why push my luck. Why did I have to get the ******* cop <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Whenever someone calls me a ***** for not wanting to race I just tell them fine, I guess I'm a ***** then. I won't street race unless I'm 100% sure there are no cops around, but those times are few and far between. The penalties are just too high.

But I sure don't mind watching others street race. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Well said my friends. It is not worth it to me anymore after spending Xmas in Jail for making a pass. You are better off just going to the racetrack i feel these days because of the severe penalties that can occur to you now.

Two of my old buddies were drag racing around Boston Dec 31, 1999 and you know the rest, they got caught, one of them started giving the cops a hard time and they spent new years in jail hahaha

One has a fear of enclosed small areas and I heard my other buddy tell me that he was freaking out, telling the cops he couldnt breath and stuff hahahaha, he was walking around in circles in a small **** cell for 6-7 hours. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />
