Default REAL short race with a 347 'Stang..and a question

Ran into a 94-98 SN95 on the way home tonite, thing was SO clean, had 03 Cobra wheels and this louvered cowl induction hood really clean black paint job.....clean ride overall

This thing sounded MORE than pissed off...I was like DAMN IT, caught with my bottle closed again...(never agaiN!)....we got next to each other in traffic and we shot some revs at each other...I told him his **** was real clean and he replied with "347 Stroker MAN!!!!" Awww man....no spray, he's going to eat me up. Looked like he has at least 315's out back, BFG lookin pattern....Oh well i tell myself there's always someone faster and here he is..he breaks my thoughts with "10.47 ALL DAY BRO!!!"

GREAT, time to get *** raped......there is a short break in the traffic so we both hit it about the same time, I ripp pretty good outta the hole but he's already got a nose on me...we only go to 1st and part of 2nd but all he ever put was his door on my nose (1.5 car?)

Which leads to the question part of this whole thing.....

How the hell does a lid/cutout WS6 hang with a 347 stroker in the 10's??? Shouldnt that have been an instant 2-3 cars plus?? I admidt i dont know much about the 347 or where it makes its power hi or low rpm but just the way it sounded i thought i would be a dot in his rear view right quick.....

He was a cool guy, not dickey or anything but was I being BS'd? What do you guys think? Just curious........what do they put down on average??

There are a lot of fast sounding mustang's that aren't actually fast. If he really has a mid 10 car then maybe he had some real bad traction problems. It sounds like yout only raced to about 70 or so. That's not enough to really tell much of anything.

Maybe not even that, I was watching the traffic but it was only part of 2nd...not much of a run.

A 347? I'm assuming N/A and no spray? I don't think that's 10 second material, unless that car's stripped to the shell, which judging by the appearance of it, it's not. Usually 347's will put down approx. 400 at the wheels, so I don't think mid 11's would be that likely, yet alone mid 10's. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my $.02

He didnt mention nitrous but I dont know how radically built this 347 was....I'm sure he would've beat my *** given more of a race

They only make like 400 hp? I hear That body style was super heavy the 94-98 SN95....?

No, they were not super heavy, they were a couple hundred pounds heavier than the foxbodies, and probably about on par with our cars.

I used to own a 94 GT, and SUBJECTIVLY, I will tell you that it certainly felt lighter to drive than my TA. Not a whole hell of a lot, but a noticable ammount.

windsor engines (302 and 351w) have more of a power range than just about any engine I can think of. On the one hand you've got some that put out 215hp crank stock, on the other hand a good set of ported heads, a strong cam, and a good ported intake and exhaust and you can get 400bhp out of that 302. 400 really is about the limit for a street engine 302 though, or it was last I checked. The 347s are obviously good for about an extra 15%-20% or so, so 400rwhp out of a good 347 isn't uncommon. 400rwhp might very well put a drag-only foxbody into the high 10s with a good driver... but I don't think a street sn95 (which is what this car sounds like) is gonna do even that. I bet this guy forgot to mention the 150 wetshot that helps him make those mid 10s.

or you have people like me...

i have a good buddy with a 347 in his car.. we got over 540 rwhp out of it on pump gas on motor... Hand picked the right parts.. he ported out the heads and intake... (same guy who probably will be porting my heads)

we did his motor swap at HPE, me and him would be up till 10 at night getting everything done. Car made great power through the T-5

car looks stock

I think the guy was yanking your chain, I had a guy say some stuff about running low 11s and after I walked him bad I asked if that meant I ran 10s......

Sometimes guys don't have any track times they just bench race. I am a die hard Ford guy and I know what a set of flowmasters can do to a Mustang owners head. They make it loud and they get cocky. Thats why Mustang people get a bad rep here.

I love cars and don't mind taking a lesson or giving one either

My sleeper. Should be 12s all motor on a little 302

Then in the fall will probably be 11s on Nitrous. Makes a good enough sleeper for me.

Completely stock exterior.

Stock they put down around 215hp to the rear wheels I believe. That is through the t5. AODE is less.

I have a friend that has a sc lx stange with a 347 and he put down 554rwhp on 8psi. His car weighs a little over 2,600 pounds, curb weight of course.

Sounds like a beast...hope your engine works out as well. I almost bought a '94 GT with a 347 stroker after my '98 got totalled, but dammit, something about the LS1 kept calling my name.

im under watchfull eye's nowday's. they no that i post here and if i throw dyno number's up i will lose money on the street. so i try to keep thing's on the down low. it's hard to get a good race when they here a loped idle and a whine of a supercharger it scare's them away. sorry if i didn't answer your question bro if we met in person it would be different!
