Z28 Top Speed?
Not really sure if this goes in this forum, however I imagine you guys would know ;-)
My car: 1999 Z28 m6, borla exhaust, k&n + lid, everything else stock
If I would have the governor eliminated via a chip or a tuning, what is the theoretical top speed of this car (with proper tires, i have F1s on it now)
I am not a speed freak, however it is nice to know what my car can do.

My car when it was still bolt on and putting down 340 rwhp and 350 rwtq would go about 175 mph. I was clocked at 172 and I was backing out of it a little to keep my speed down. It definately had a few more mph in it though and this was at 5000+ ft altitude. It is slammed pretty low @25 1/2 in. front, 25 3/4 in. rear height and this would help alot.
Your car being stock ride height and having an LS1 intake and so on I'm gonna say 168 mph or so ?

This ought to be a listed FAQ..It might actually stop someone from having to find out for themselves..
I made a point to bury the speedometer,or at least set the needle around the 150 mark about two months after I bought the car..
I found the stock limiter to be set at an indicated 160..actual 162(GPS)..With the limiter removed & 3.73's I pulled the car up to 167(GPS)..I had about 340-360 rwhp at the time..I had a couple of hundred RPM left & I believe the car had 170 in it before fuel cut(rev limiter)..Besides the fact it was in broad daylight on I10 westbound somewhere on the Florida pan handle & I was running up on traffic REALLY fast,I was also feeling some really painful vibrations throught the shifter..the combination of the stock aluminum drive shaft(turning at 7200 rpm est)solid tranny mount, aftermarket shifter,& aluminum shifter **** made it feel like one of those funhouse electric chairs at Dave & Busters..
Oh yeah..BTW

However, for what its worth, if you drove the car off a cliff at that speed, it would actually slow down during free-fall. Thats gotta mean you were driving faster than nature intended you too.
