Default ss vs. turbo diesel

ok so here is the story.....a buddy of mine has a 05' duramax 2500 w/ a programmer, exauhst, after market intercooler and upgraded turbo and all the goodies.....btw there is plenty i left out, so he thought that he would run his mouth a little bit and talk **** about my ride (almost all mods in sig). although his truck is fast as **** for over 5k pounds i knew the ss had no problem. 1st race heads up....burned the tires through 2nd and he beat me. 2nd race warmed the tires up and gave him 2 lengths and beat him by 4-5 lengths. So the last time i gave him 5 lengths......won by 2 cars and i am a hundred dollars more wealthy!.........my first real race and i'm hooked!

so you lost the first time going heads up? because you burned your tires through 2nd, but you gave him 2 cars and then 5 cars and were able to pull back past him by multiple cars? sorry that's just sounds funny that you couldn't beat him heads up but you were able to when giving him the advantage.
Good kill BTW!

Nice kill. Sometimes those modded turbo diesels are pretty quick!

There seems to be quite a few nasty diesels out there lately. I had a guy over tuesday night playing poker with a 04 F-350 with a 6" lift and 20" rims. His truck runs 12.70s with a 1.3X 60ft

Download these videos and let me know what you think.

Go to that web page then go to where it says download video

The big green F350 has gone much faster since then I think he has run a 10.3 at 13X mph recently

Yea, there was a modded newer duramax at one of our spots one night- he beat one or two decently quick mustangs.

Yeah, some of those diesels are quick if your buddy has all the goodies he should be good for low 12 to mid 11's. I am actually surprised you got him with a 2 length head start. He should have about 1200-1300 ft.lbs at the wheels, once it's all spooled up they get moving quick. What type of numbers are you running if you esentially beat him by 7 cars, 9's,10's?

dieselkid, are you talking about Maddogs cummins powered green crewcab f350?

Yeah that is maddogs truck. It takes a hell of a tranny to hold up to all that power, and weight. My truck has the same tranny as he does BTS And the other one in the other video is david lotts truck Snow White and I think snow white has gone 11.2 recently. I am not to suprised that the duramax lost. He probably doesnt that much done. I have only seen one or two dmaxes with that much torque. If the truck had that much power oodahss would have been owned.

There's a few around where I live, ATS is only a stone throw away. Did you see the 6.0 PSD running 11.51 (i think), it's a standard cab shortbed, pretty cool custom truck. I need to do some more tranny work, my last dyno I put down 456 HP/923 TQ at the wheels and the tranny is starting to slip.

What type of truck do you have and what do you have done. My last dynoed at 434 hp but there is alot left in there, and I have a few new toys to make it go faster.

I've got a 02 Dodge 2500 B-1, 150Hp sticks, TST PM3, and the rest of the usuals. I am working on a set of twins using my b-1, my goal is to try to get to 600-700 range. 434 is a good number most of the PSD's I see at the dyno events are in the mid to high 300's.

Isn't it hard to not to modify the diesels don't you just love the power. But for me I can't leave anything alone. Its even worse with my raptor 75hp on race gas and 85 with methanol then nitrous on top of that. When I find an ls1 that I like and I think it is a good buy I don't even want to know what I will do to that thing, but it will be fun.

By the way your setup on the truck is very similar to what 3 of my friends have, and similar dyno numbers.

Yeah, we were able to almost guess my exact number before we dynoed. It seems like everyone running this setup is within about 20HP. I guess no wednesday trucks. What mods do you have? You gotta love diesels!!

modified 530 injectors, h2e quick spool I need bigger, big oil pump actually twins, exhaust, intake, BTS tranny, and all of the smaller supporting mods for those. I need to get headstuds, and my head oringed so I can crank up the fueling without blowing head gaskets. I think I will be able to make 500hp and 1000tq to the wheels with the headgasket issue fixed.

Yeah I agree 1.6 is too low for a 12.70 diesel even with a 4wh launch. Maybe there is a timeslip.
