Default 2000 Trans am (stock) vs. 1997 cobra (lightly modded) *HELP*

Who would win? My 2000 Trans am M6 Stock or a 1997 Cobra (lightly modded) M5? Lemme explain whats up...
First of all i have the Trans am...
This is what he wants to race...
Street...
30 Roll...
70 Roll...
Drag At Track...
***lemme know how i can do against him***

2000 Trans am... 6-Speed with 95,000 miles
Exhaust cutout, lid, and wider tires (like 275), and a pro 5.0
Heres the numbers DYNO 321HP/330TQ before lid...

1997 Cobra... 5-Speed with 500 miles (recent rebuild and broken in)
Headers, X-Pipe (full exhaust) with chromies... Rear gears at 3.73... and Cold air with polished elbow... and same 275 tires...Not dyno'd (i think thats it)

Both NO SPRAY...

So whatcha think? Lemme know and if there is any miner mod or any mod i can do lemme know ill get it doen i want to shut him up...thanks Try to gimme feedback on which race ill beat him on or all four... Thanks

How good are you at launching and grabbing gear's?
If it's second nature you will win, on all of those run's.
If not, you may have your hand's full.

at the track i would half way let the clutch out till the tires caught a about 3300 rpm's and then would let it all the way out once they hooked

a geared 4valve cobra, NA or not is not a dog...sorry. I would say he is putting down around 280-290 rwhp or so. He should be able to mirror the times you got with your 02 SS in your sig quite easily.

You mean a 4.10-4.30 gear'd cobra is not a dog. The 3.73's aint helping **** from 3.55's.

Id hope he could do better than my car with those mods, but there was a reason ford SUPERCHARGED that motor. So it could run with the Z06!

wider tires don't mean ****....its the compound...Get some drag radials, prefereably MT ET Streets on some stock rims (275-40-17) and put them on for the race, then you will have no problem beating him.

Race him at 30MPH to see what happens, it should be a good race because he has some mods and you are almost stock. I think you will take him.

Any idiot that only puts 3.73's in a n/a cobra deserves to loose. From a roll (any mph) you'll win. His only chance is from a dig but still once you get around 40-50mph you'll pull on him. My guess is he is probably a mid 13 sec car on radials (non DR). Not all n/a 4.6's are dogs. -Mark

Thank you all for ur help and support, i felt the same way but now im more confident... i was makin fun of his car allday yesterday, hes a frirend so i know hell take it as a joke, ... he thought i only put down 260-270 HP and TQ at the wheels if GM rated me 305/315... but when i showed him the Dyno sheets of my 2000 M6 TA STOCK before LID and only Cutout, it read 321HP/330TQ, his tone of voice changed and was like how are u doin that, and that i must not be tellin him of some mods, but hes still sure hell kill me, i think ill take him and after that take some of his money and make him sell his car and convert his *** to a LS1!

As long as that rebuild wasn't a big bore, stroker or both, you should be fine. The 4V motor with more displacement can be pretty nasty even with the stock gear.

You should inch him out....From a dig he will take half or a full car length(If you dont break)...Get ya some Nitto DR's 315-40-17's......Warm'em up and run like hell!!! You should be able to launch fairly hard and not loose to much ground....
From a Roll.....at 30 I would be in 2nd...maybe 1st. But from 70 I would go from 3rd.....
Have fun!!
