Default replaced shocks, still getting a bang noise

hey guys, ever since i bought the car i was getting a banging noise in the front drivers side of the car when i hit bumps especially when i drive on old cobble stone roads

i was told it was my upper shock mount but when i replaced the shocks the mount looked perfect, and even after the new shocks, it still makes the same exact noise, it wasnt changed by the new shocks at all

so can anyone tell me what else can cause a knocking noise?

thanks

edit* oh yeah, swaybar endlinks are brand new also

thanks, the upper bushings looked good, i didnt really take a look at the lower bushings

and when you say the sway bar bushings, are you talking about the round rubber pieces that hold the sway bar in place?

any chance a bad ball joint or tie rod could cause that?

it seems to only make the noise on some bumps, i can smash a pot hole and it wont make the noise, but i can hit a man hole cover and i will hear it

i'd lean more towards a balljoint than a tie rod. And the sway bar bushings are the two that hold it to the subframe.

Did you figure out the problem? It sounds just like my problem. I took the shock assembly off but I haven't disasembled it.

I had that same "knocking" noise. It turned out to be the "D" bushings that hold the sway bar to the subframe, they were hard. Hope this helps.

Mine has a weird noise too but it is coming from the passenger side. Mine sounds like a creaking door.
