Default brake rotors

I need rear brake rotor for my 00 ss. I'm kind of on a tight budget and don't know what rotors to get for the rears. I was looking at factory replacements but chevy wants 182 for the pair. What are some good rotors that are cheap but relaible

auto parts store...standard blanks.

they'll work fine...pads will make more difference than rotors

you should be fine with the auto part store rotors on the rear because the front does more of the stopping. Just don't hot lap the car and you should be fine.

rears do minimal work....unlikely to warp them doing 1/4mi pull downs from speed.

fronts...different story.

given enough abuse any rotor "can" warp or crack.

but at probably 1/4 the cost of high performance rotors...they'll do just fine till you DO warp them.

autox/road racing is MUCH harder on brakes then stab & steer will ever be. have you seen dedicated drag race brakes? tiny discs with massive holes/slots cut into them. unless your particular track has no runoff at all, theres no reason to slam on the brakes after a pass. slow down normally and theyll last for years.

When you replace your rears, be sure to adjust your parking brake to the new rotors. The adjustment screws are inside sit inside the rotor and you won't be able to go back and do it later.
