Default Brake booster

Have any of you guys ever had to replace the brake booster? How did it feel when your booster was bad. Right now, my brakes feel like there is air in the system, I bled them.. still the same. I unplugged the brake booster line and pluged it while i drove it. the brake pedal was hard, so i plug the line back in and now they are spongie. any thoughts?

The pedal would be hard if without power assist.

no repairs were made, I bought the car like this.
Like I said, the pedal is spongy, but I already tried bleeding the brakes.

A bad brake booster will only make the pedal hard, not spongy.

A good indication of a bad booster is a very hard pedal with little or no assist.

If your pedal is spongy, the problem is not the booster.

I'd look into the master cylinder as a possible issue.

You may also have air in the ABS module, which requires a Tech II to bleed.

Air in the master or abs module is my guess. Bench bleed the master and cycle the abs and rebleed the lines.

rebleed, starting with the rears. I thought I had a booster going out on my last vehicle....even unbolted the master and didn't find any leaks....ended up being a broken/cracked front brake pad.

Had this happen on a neighbor's Honda, bled system multiple times, replaced booster, master cylinder, bled more times.
Turned out to be worn front pads, which he had repeatedly assured me were like new.
