Default installing strange dual adjustable in my 99 TT do I use factory dustboot /bumpstop

I have the strange da front shocks that use the factory type strange spring not the smaller hypercoil springs.
Do I need to use the factory dust boot /bump stop .Mine are damaged and dont' want to use the boot for sure but could cut it maybe and just use the bump stop.
I have misplaced my instructions and strange wasn't even sure.
