Default Is it normal?

I was just wondering if it was normal for the brake pedal to become hard when you turn the car off. I assume this is due to lack of vac in the brake booster but I do not recall my other vehicles reacting that way. Also the first 2 stops I make are underpowered. I'm starting to think the boosters going out but I don't want to throw parts at it. Just changed pads,rotors,lines,fluid....it was like this before so no I don't think its air in the lines. It stops fine outside of idle rpm as in coasting to a stop with the clutch in.Any ideas?? Thanks!

Yes, it's normal for the pedal to go hard after the car is shut off, exactly as you assumed. However, as soon as you start the car up and re-establish vacuum in the booster, the pedal should provide full braking power. If not, something is wrong.

replace the inline check valve on the hose. it is the little plastic valve that goes into the booster. sounds to me like the ball inside is stuck and it is letting the vacuum leak off

Well I took a chance and you were right...It was the check valve..funny thing is that was the first place I looked and it seemed to be ok. As I said this had been an ongoing concern for sometime and I chalked it up to needing a brake job. Also the one I removed was different than the factory one I picked up from the dealer, so that also may have played a role. Anyway shes back to normal and thanks again for the replies!
