Default ls1 brakes on lt1 moser 12 bolt?

talking with a buddy of mine and he is trying to put in a moser 12 bolt that was originally put in a 96. his car is a 98 and the shop is telling him his backing plates for the brakes wont bolt up.
is this a common issue with a fix, or is he in for buying parts?
ive always run aftermarket brakes, i have no clue.

did some searching and really couldnt find anything other than abs stuff.
thanks.

Yep swap out the backing plates.
For a 12 bolt w/C clip eliminators you'll have to take the axle bearings off to get the new plates on.

he called strange today and got some spacers comming. this is pretty common from what they told him.
just some machined rings to take up the gap so the ls1 backing plate sits in the correct postion.
16 bucks.
i thought he had a moser...sorry.
