Default Aftermarket Torque arm required or not??

02 SS with LCAs and lowering brackets. Will a aftermarket adjustable torque arm help me out or is the stock one good enough. Auto car with 4k convertor on D-radials on stock GM 10-bolt Torsen. Fixing to put some shocks probably Bilsteins on it--stock70k mile decarbons on it now. Just looking for any more et/handling improvement if I can get it.

Any advice appreciated.

With a fairly stock engine as long as the TA is still in excellent condition, I'd first get a UMI Torque Arm Relocation Kit to get the TA mount off the transmission tail shaft housing.

420 RWHP on motor. over 500 on spray. Does mounting the torque arm off the tail housing on a manual trans or automatic see the same benefit??

They'll both benefit from the TA only moving where it was designed to pivot instead of the whole front TA mount constantly moving around. You also will have the ability set the pivot/mount height on the front.

Being you have a high stall converter and drag radial tires I would have to say that a tunnel mounted torque arm will be your best investment. You will get improved traction and get the t/a off the trans at the same time.

MWC offers both long and short torque arms with full adjustability and a come in a light weight, super strong design. Our short version comes with a driveshaft loop installed on the crossmember and the entire kit is only 375.00.

Give us a call and we can go over the options for you and make sure you get the right parts the first time, as well as expert tech help for install and tuning needs.

With the power you are making and the fact that you are focusing mainly on drag racing I would say that a good aftermarket torque arm is will a necessity and you will notice a improvement in all around performance. We carry a couple different torque arm options that would cover you depending on what direction you go.

Our BMR Trak Pak (TPU001) would be our more drag race oriented chassis mounted torque arm that would fit your needs as long as the little bit of extra NVH for it wouldn't bother you.

The other option would be to go with our BMR full length adjustable torque arm (TA001) along with our BMR torque arm relocation crossmember for the 4L60E (TCC007). This setup is definitely more street friendly but will perform well at the track also. These parts will allow you to fine tune the pinion angle and the instant center of the car to make sure you are optimizing the performance of the vehicle.

When I went to an aftermarket torque arm I noticed that the car was more solid and the traction really improved( 410rwhp).Next step is to get the relocation crossmember to get it off the tranny.I drove my friends t/a with a little more horespower and his car doesn't
seem to react as solid as mine. He has the stock torque arm. Replace it, you will like it better than the stock one,Even with an auto.

For strictly Drag racing, go short arm.
For a mix of DD, Corner-Carving, Autocross, and some Drag-Racing; go long arm.

if your car is a street car youd be better off with the long arm. I noticed when I did my umi torque arm the car felt alot more solid and had noticeably more traction.

A long style torque arm is better suited for handling and autoX and I would also recommend using a torque arm relocation crossmember and getting the torque arm off the tailshaft housing of the transmission.

When I put lower gears in my car, I couldn't get traction off the line to save my life. I installed UMI trans mount adj.TQ arm and lower control arms at the same time which made an unbelievably huge difference. I can hook up most of the time now. Then I lowered and adjusted everything and now it handles better. Well worth the money.

Installed my BMR Torque Arm and Relocation Crossmember and they are very nice parts. Fit is great and plenty of ground clearance compared to others I have seen. Now I have to get the pinion angle set. To start with I set the front in dead center bolt holes. Newbie on TA settings.
