Regular grease damages ploy bushings over time?
I was at my local chevy dealer getting something checked and one of the techs made an interesting comment. He said that regular old grease will hold bits of dirt or debris from the road in it and it will grind away the poly bushings quicker than would the special type of silicone grease. He said this happens over thousands of miles but that it will decrease the life of the poly bushings. He said the sislicone grease won't hold the debris or dirt from the road therefore allowing them to last longer.
Is this true?
Thanks.

Silicone grease holds dirt just as well as regular grease. Yes, it could grind away poly if a grain of salt got into a moving part. But, even if you don't have grease and you still get dirt in the bushing, it can still wear its self down. But usually it takes THOUSANDS of miles before it will go bad. Poly can be worn down with dirt, rubber will rot away..... either way these bushings will not last forever once they are removed from the wrapper.

If it makes any difference, I've used plain old moly grease on poly bushings for years and have never seen any unusual wear.
