Default People with Z06 brake upgrade... come on in!!!

I've got a 2001 WS6. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Z06 kit. New front slotted rotors, 4 Z06 calipers, brackets...the whole nine yards.
ANyway, my questions is: is this a worthwhile upgrade? Was there a noticable difference in braking distance or power? Do they fade as easily as the stock setup? ANd finally: what was the cost for this upgrade? I got an estimate from a company and it was right around 1000 bucks. ANy help at all is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

Yes ... if you have found the edge of your current braking system, this is the next level up.

Yes ... but it the amount of bite one achieves is relative to the brake pad compound.

Again ... this is relative to the pad compound. You can put brake pads on a stock F-Body setup and feel no fade ... ever. Conversly, you can put a pad on the Z06 setup that will fade as soon as the sun hits it.

For front and rear calipers (~$350), 4 rotors (~$250), brake lines ($75), front performance pads (~$150), rear pads (~$30), brake fluid (~$10) and adaptor brackets ($????), I'd say your $1000 quote was a very good price.

Are we able to use the rear caliper and rotor from a z06 on our Ws6's?

Another option is the willwood kit. I wouldnt waste anytime dicking around with stock or Z06 brake system if your serious about bringing it down from speed in a hurry.

I don't know.

Wilwood is a good brake kit. But for teh same money, I'd look at a Stoptech system. I see Stoptech brakes on club race cars and rarely see a Wilwood kit. Not sure why ...

Last time I looked, Stoptech didn't make an F-Body system. Other than that, Stoptech would be a great option - BMW guys swear by them to haul heavy 540s and M5s down from speed.

I've heard the Wilwood kit isn't any better in terms of braking power than the stock Z06 kit. I also heard from a couple guys who have the Wilwood kit that they fade worse than the stock brake system!!

Rear C5 brakes are virtually no different than F-Body brakes. Front C5 conversions can be done for around $900.00 - Pretty inexpensive for a 13" brake system, IMHO.

I don't think the car will stop in a shorter distance on the street or track with the C5 brakes, but I do think the C5's will hold up to abuse much better, and take more heat on a track.

I run C5 brakes on my WS-6. They seem to run cooler, which allows them to brake better. The Wilwoods are the same diameter as the C5 and dont have dust shields, so you have to rebuild them a lot. You can't beat the C5 conversion unless you go up to a 14" setup.......Lots of bucks there though

I forgot all about stoptech. The stoptech calipers look a lot like the brembo caliper, are they made by the same company.

Default C5 brakes for under $800.00

Had to do it again. You need to be a sponser to sell parts here.

It scares me that you are making brake parts and are calling them "Calibers". I think I'll look elsewhere, thanks.
