The hawk pads should come with a break-in procedure. They're all along the lines of repeated moderate stops, first at a low speed, then gradually higher speeds, with time in between stops to let the breaks cool down. It can be tough finding a place to properly brake in new brakes, but it's important to do for those pads if you want what you paid for.
