Looking for good front brake pads
After hearing $118 for OE GM front pads, I'm looking for a lesser expensive alternative that performs close to as well as they did. They don't dust very much either. Anyone have a good recommendation? Never been much of a Raybestos fan.

Question question: How long do these pads last for? I bought mine in feb 2004 and they are now starting to squeak. I think the pads need to be replaced.
Hawk pad owners, how long did your pads last for? How often do you change them?

I ran the Hawks on my 01 Z for almost a year before I sold the car. They never squeeked, nor did they dust hardly at all. The Hawks on my 00 SS have squeeked since day one, and also seem to dust a bit more. I still don't mind as the car stops so much better.
You might just find there is some sort of material between the pad and the rotor causing it to squeek. I am sure you'll get some good years out of the pads unless you are autoxing the car every weekend.
There is some disc brake quiet stuff you can pick up from the parts store. It's made by CRC and should be in the chemical isle. I think Permatex makes something similar as well. I've just been too lazy to pick some up and try it out

I replaced my OE pads when I replaced the front shocks @ near 60,000 miles. They were not worn out, probably could have gotten to 70 or 75,000. I bought PBR Metal Masters from Sam Strano and love them.
My OEs never dusted and neither do these. No squeeking either. Even though they've been on for 5,000 miles, I can't tell you how much of an improvement they may be over OE 'cause I haven't had to nail 'em yet!

I've been plenty happy with my Hawk HPS pads. The dusting doesn't seem to be a WHOLE lot more than the OEMs, but I've got to agree on the stopping power. It was definitely noticable. Hawk's have my vote!

Are blank brembos good?

Brembo blanks are excellent. I'm about to order 4 more (I run race pads at $150 for the front pads and I destroy rotors, not the rotors fault. I've destroyed a few sets now, but I've never had one warp)
