25 pounds unsprung pounds vs. 500 dollars!!??
chev12bolt or ford 9 inch ,ordering diff. tomorrow from moser.is saving 25 pounds dead weight worth 500 as 12 bolt will be strong enough? please help with advice , thks.

Are you road racing or drag racing?
The unsprung weight is more critical in the road racing. For drag racing, any weight is important. Also, the 9" has a greater pinion angle which means more frictional loss.
I'd say, that unless you're pushing some BIG power & running slicks, a well built 12-bolt should be fine.

If your picky and like to do different gear combos and set up your own gears. Then the 9 inch is the way to go.
