Friend told me, if i do not remove the carpet, the carpet will catch on fire due to the welding heat from welding in the sub frame connectors??? is this true?

it MIGHT.

some people throw a wet towel on it.

i prefer to take the 2mins and remove the edge trim.. then set damp towels UNDER the carpet/wires.

reduces the chance that you'll melt something.

Yes, it can catch on fire. I took my time with mine plus did some cooling with a spray bottle and it worked fine. Also won't hurt to have a set of eyes on the interior just to make sure. I have seen the results of someone welding the SFC by themselves, just going to town with the welder and didn't relize the interior was on fire. Not a pretty sight.

I did notice my carpet was getting warm so I pulled it back. It didn't get that hot that it would catch, but better safe then sorry.
