WHat is your race weight, spring combo, and converter stall?
Honestly by reading your combo, your better off on a bias ply, I mean 1.6X is attainable, especially for a A4 car, but you should be smashing that easy. My lil old 383 LT1 with a 2k stall, 3.23 gears, nitto's, stock suspension, and 37XX race weight pulled 1.7X's all day. You may just be over powering the tires with a 403 F1a combo.

I don't agree you're better off with a bias ply tires. I have friends that run 7's and 8's on M/T street radials. They work awesome with autos.
I would start around 20psi and work your way down 2 psi at a time till you get the best 60ft without losing mph, and then fine tune your pressure once you get your fastest 60ft, also M/T street radials don't need a big burn out, just get them to just smoke and roll out.
