need some help!! front shock swap
I had a local shop switch the front shocks from KYB to Koni but I think they installed them wrong. The shop did not re-use the rubber coated metal disc or dust shield. Is this a problem? Old shocks:

I just completed my AFCO front coil over install, so this is fresh in my mind.
The rust you see on the stock mounts is fine, and can be easily cleaned off. Water tends to collect under the wheel well, and those parts do rust. It is merely on the surface though, and will not affect the integrity on the steel until MANY MANY decades later (like the barn beauties we all see in Hot Rod mag that are all rusted to hell lol). Take a wire wheel to them, throw some rustoleum on there, and whalaa, they look brand new
As far as the rubber bushings go, I would have reused them, but it is by no means neccesary. I know that I ditched them with my AFCOs, as the set up only used the upper control arm mount some large washers and grade 8 hardware, that that's it.
If you feel uncomfy about the install, then take them back and have them use the rubber mounts. If anything, you may feel a bit more vibration without them. As far as safety, and performance goes, that nut and washer will hold all you can throw at it.
FWIW, I reused all stock rubber bushings and mounts with my old Bilstein set up. The AFCOs do not retain any of that stuff.

That install is completely wrong. I have done this job myself many times. The big silver washer should be under the mount not where they put it. The part they did not re-use goes where they installed the washer.
If you don't fix this, you are looking at two shock upper mount failures very soon.
