Default for those with a jegster torque arm

i just bought an adjustable and put it in last night. what is the easiest way to set pinion angle? what did you use as a reference? do you go from the trans pan and the carrier of the rear?

for all torque arms, the procedure is the same

Step 1, the suspension must be loaded.. ie drive on lift/ramps

step 2, set the angle to 0 degrees. This is when the reading on the drive shaft and the reading on the TA pinion plate are the same. Doesn't matter what the number is, as long as its the same number on both.

Step 3. You should have a sense for, or be able to figure out (by looking at the adjuster threads) which way to turn the adjuster to get the front of the axle to rotate down towards the ground. Be careful here, you don't want to guess and go the wrong way. Now, measuring as you go, rotate the front of the axle down until there is at least one digit difference between the reading on the pinion and the reading on the drive shaft. if you want a -2 degree angle.. you'll want 2 hash-marks difference and so on.

Again. The numbers aren't important. if you're on a hill, the numbers may read -23 and -25.. but thats still a -2 degree pinion angle.

Depends which way you've got the angle finder. Angle finders are designed to be used for a wide variety of things. You really have to start at 0 as i described and rotate down.

If it pointed to the same notch on both, thats a 0. If it pointed to +1 and -1, thats either -2 or +2, in which case, you should start back at 0 and angle down to -2.
