Default Heater hose mod

I need to drop the drivers side rear by 3/4", so was planning to do the heater hose mod to that side only. What's a good durable hose to get? Just regular 5/16" heater hose from Autozone, or is there something more durable? I only want to drop that corner by 3/4" and no more.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks.

Heater Hose. Same type that is connected to your heater in the car..Black/strong/durable/cheap. Home Depot will be cheapest.

It's 5/8 heater hose, not 5/16. The mod involves removing the upper spring isolators in the rear and winding heater hose over the coil on top.

Yeah and you actually can tell a difference. Wish I woulda done it a couple years ago when I bought the car! Very simple to do, and I suck at car stuff.

the only thing i dont understand about it is the fact that it will make your rear a little lower than the front.

Yes it will. Lowering the front will involve either installing a lowering spring or utilising a lowering spring perch (e.g. "coil-over" or Koni SA lower spring perch).

This thread (sticky) mentions the "Koni SA lower perch and rear heater hose mod.":

Its not very noticable of a difference. I forgot the measurments I took when I did it, but its nothing to worry about (at least in my situation). Plus, when you do the whole spring/shock swap it wont matter anymore.

Just bought 2ft of 5/8" heater hose from Advance Auto. Brand is "Thermoid" and it is rated to 62psi. ID is 5/8" and OD is 15/16" with polyester reinforcement.

Is there any other hose that is more "heavy duty" than this for the heater hose mod??? I believe Sam Strano recommended fuel hose in another thread, which looks more robust, but that only comes in 1/2" and smaller.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

You'll be fine with what you have. This doesn't require some super heavy duty type hose. Just put it on and forget about it for 3-4 years. Then you can pull a spring out and inspect it if you want.

I tried 5/8" ID heater hose for this mod and the ID of the hose is much bigger than the OD of the spring when I put it on. I was expecting it to be a tight fit. Hopefull it holds up ok.

I may try using some 1/2" ID hydraullic hose rated at 200psi..

You took the words out of my mouth.I just did the mod myself 10 minutes ago..It looks good..I was disappointed the back didn't drop more when I lowered my car 2 weeks ago. Then i was talking to someone & he asked if I did the hose Mod. That did the trick This is on my 98, not the car in the sig

is it ok to do the heater hose mod to the drivers side only,,,,just put strano springs and kyb agx shocks but my drivers side rear stayed a full inch higher than passenger side which is how it was before springs so i didnt expect any different..last night i pulled the driver rear spring and did the hose mod ,,worked great and took my 1 inch difference down to 3/8...looks soooooooo much better now,,but is it ok mechanically to do this
