Well this morning I went into the office and started working on my current project. I get a phone call from the Engineering Manager and I thought hmmm what's up with this. I thought since things are somewhat slowing down that he was wanting to discuss some down sizing of the department. Well to make a long story short, I ended up walking out of his office with a BIG grin on my face. I received a 9% raise in my current salary and would be retroactive to the 1st of Jan. I was like blown away. Now he did say that it was very confidential and not to tell anyone..

I'm currently in the engineering and design field of cryogenic process equipment for the LNG industry.

Has anyone witness the same at there company? I would have thought that most places are freezing raises / bonus for 2009.

I work contract out in the field as a pipeline inspector. I am about to leave for a job in Alabama in a month or so but until then they let me come in the office and do some design work. I had to take a $6 per hour cut and no perdium but it is better than mowing the lawn daily until the job starts. Oh, and it is only about 10 miles from the house so no travel.

9% is a damn good raise, be proud and spend the extra money only on the best looking hookers!

Jeff, congrats on getting a raise. You are one of the few that will get a raise this year. Heck, there are so many people out of work that it's nice for those folks that have jobs to be employed and making hopefully a sound income.

I get .20 every 16 weeks, plus cola and 3-4% contract raise every year. They are not the biggest but they are steady! Congrats on the raise, every dollar helps in this economy.

Thats why I love working for the federal government (Civil Service)!! We get a pay raise every anniversary date, every new year, and a bonus every year too!! Plus every holiday off including the days the military doesnt work! So yeah, i got one too!! ...sorry, dont mean for it to come out as if i was bragging!!!

My pay has been frozen for 2 years. After most of the company being on a pay/hiring freeze and no bonus, they're hiring more upper management. I talking literally a manager for 1 person in 2 departments. I better get a fuggin raise soon.

Congrats on the raise! You're probably getting a piece of someone elses salary sadly. Its kinda bitter sweet to get a raise when everyone around you is losing their job.

Our company is on a different fiscal schedule that began last September. I wont be up for a promo till then anyway. I'm hoping the market will swing around by then.

Again congrats! Help keep the sponsors alive so we can enjoy them after the recession!

My company site cleared a billion dollars 2 years ago and almost as much last year. Now they are working on the raise % and if they use the economy as a crutch all hell will break loose since no one recieved anything special during the good times.
