Default Need recommendations for LS1 Rebuild Shops around Dallas

I already emailed and got a quote from LG Motorsports, I just can't spend the money they are asking me to. So I need to find a place near Dallas for my LS1 rebuild.

I will most likely be ordering a Stock Forged Rotating Assembly from Texas Speed, just need a well known place to get it rebuilt at. Figured you guys would know where to point me.

Glad I could bring some irony to this board.

I searched the regional forum and found nothing, so that is why I asked.

If you are wanting machine work....HKE does good work, but he is in Houston. He's the best bang for the buck.

For someone local, Hans Feustel and RayMac are both good shops, but don't expect a bargain at either.

Hans builds some good stuff but there are issues associated with that shop which would cause me to stay away from there. I'm sure that either RPM or SQR would do a good job for you.

Dallas is big, need to be more specific on location and what you want to spend. Is this just a short block or you needing headwork (mill, VJ, seals) done as well?

HKE built my motor..... RPM sent it to Watt who is local to replace the crank and go thru it again vs shipping it down to Houston. I am sure either is sufficient. I trust RPM more than I trust Watt and if they think that is the place to go I am fine with it.

I live in the Dallas area and I just picked up a great LS3 from Mast Mortorsports in Nacogdoches. It's about 2 hours out hwy 20 east.

Horace the fellow that owns the place was really nice to work with, or call Shaun. In any event my LS3 427 just dyno'ed 606 hp/ and 560 torque.

All pump gas and really reasonable.

Call them and see what they say.

Good luck,

Ty

Ravenous T\A : I would as I used to tear down engines and rebuild them while I was at my College Automotive Course, but I don't have any of the tools needed to do the job.

ulakovic22 : Any place in Dallas really, I live in Tyler which is 100miles SouthEast of Dallas. We do not have any machine shop around here that I would want to take anything to.

For right now I am exchanging thoughts with 67Ranger on here since he works at Raymac.

I am sure that is either Chris Frank or Hutto you are talking to. Or Hutto maybe "Rapin You" or something.

From personal experience, Yes! Going elsewhere would be best.
