If im not mistaken, that was more of a drunk driving issue that caused the crash than anything. So they are just taking one wrong thing and manipulating it into another. I wish you could get a different licentiate showing you know what your doing ha.

Like badmoon said, screws it up for people who actually use good judgment on the street. Yes, it is illegal, but if done correctly it can be safe.
This is true, especially if the road is free-and-clear.

By the way, there is such a thing as "single man racing", which falls under street racing/racing on highway. This means that you don't have to be next to anyone to be guilty of street racing. If they see anything that falls under exhibition of horse power (revving up, burning out), excessive acceleration, "jack rabbiting", etc you could possibly be arrested for street racing. Of course it really depends on where you live.

Can be all free and clear you want but still doesnt prevent you from crashing and causing harm to yourself and surrounding property. Just the sad truth of it, you never know what is going to happen. Its best just not to do it but sometimes it happens. Use your best judgement.

No innocent bystanders at a drag strip though. Im all for them getting down on some of these morons that act like complete fools. No reason to be jacking around on a busy interstate or business street (which is what these morons were doing). 6 months in jail is a little excessive but im sure thats the maximum penalty. In a non accident case, first time offenders should be given a ticket. If it happens again within a year I say a Dl suspension. After that jail time.

Anything can happen at the drag strip as well, there's not really any difference.
Just saying there are some really dumb people racing on the streets that cause majority of problems you hear about in the news. ALot of racing is done as safe as possible, I've seen it and done it as well. Just gotta use your best judgement

IMO, lately every crash involving a sports car, is street racing from what the cops and media have provided. I one am guilty of it, not lately, but I can not cast stones. Anytime I have engaged it has been on a rural hwy, there has been no innocent motorist, that can be harmed. It's just the latest hype for the doughnut kings and media to focus on.
