If you get a good tune before you are testing it. No codes will come up.

Technically your car is required to have an EGR. Look at the sticker on the driver side shock tower and you will see EGR listed. However, I have never seen an inspection place bother to look at that sticker and then examine the engine bay to determine if there is in fact an EGR present.

vetteboy99 is somewhat correct. It is not exactly a matter of a "good tune" it is a rather having your tuner go into the PCM and turn off the DTC code for EGR so that your car is not showing that error when the inspection station hooks up to it.

"not worried about the codes" ??? You should be. They will fail you for trouble codes related to emissions equipment.

i shouldnt of said not worried about it because i know that i would have to have my tuner take the code off. im worried about them looking underneath the hood and not seeing the egr and failing me.

I had a 98 with an LS6 intake, and it never failed inspection (and they looked under the hood)..
