Which is the better track? HRP or Hallsvile?
The Vette I just bought has run an 11.2 @ 121 at Hallsville, and was wondering if I have the potential to run better in Baytown - assuming all conditions are equal, where would I be quicker?

Nope, hasnt been in several years and doubt it ever will be sadly..I grew up around that track, great place to race for years. I always seemed to hook up alot better at hallsville than I did anywhere else, and there was no downhill but there was a small uphill rise at about the 1000ft mark. Would love to see it open again, I miss the ole rough *** track.

Hallsville had a downhill and uphill, it wasn't all down hill. In my experience it was ~2/10 quicker than Ennis, and maybe .5 to 1 mph faster.
The thing I hated most about hallsville was the starting line wasn't level. Not an issue for a car with an automatic, but three footing a stick car makes it hard to get a good light.

I grew up going to the Division races at hallsville. Used to watch Greg Stanfield run his super stock 3rd gen. I also was able to race there a few times in high school/college. It was fun track with a down hill shut down area. I remember a bump in the right lane at about the 1/8 I believe. Great memories.

I've ran at both tracks, ran the same times but my trap was .5 mph faster at hallsville. It's a myth about it being "downhill", people used to say that just to put down good times that were turned out. Shows how long it's been since I raced, I didn't even know Hallsville had shut down....... shame. Now to answer your question, I like HRP better overall. IMO the track prep was better so launching/short times were better, the track surface from burnout box to shutdown was smooth and clean. The only downside for me was the wait in the staging lanes, WAY longer at HRP than Hallsville.
