Default Title question

So I'm in the process of buying a WS6. There's only one big hiccup. Apparently the person who has the car now that I'm trying to buy from has the title, but never registered it in their name. Is this going to be a problem for me?

Any steps I need to take?

did the previous owner that sold the car to the seller ever sign the title? I am just guessing, but think he is going to need to title it and pay the taxes and have it issued to him, then he can sell it to you.

You may want to contact a title service and avoid the headaches, they can process for 50-100 bucks usually..

Basically it is illegal to do so, but I guess that's one way for some people to avoid paying sales tax which will eat into their profits when flipping cars.

If the guy he bought it from put a date in the back of the title, then you will incur penalties from that date when you go register it. If he didn't date it, you are good to go.

Even if the original owner signed it and current owner did not, you would still have to pay late fees from the date it was signed. And those fees are not cheap.
