Default Anyone with a "Custom Vehicle or Street Rod?"

I'm looking to get my RX7 registered as a custom vehicle and have a few questions if anyone can help me out.

Here is a link with some more info about the program:

Let me know if you've been through this, I have a lot of questions that the tax lady couldn't really answer for me.

I would suggest consulting with a vehicle title company doing business in TX. They likely know more than the tax office personnel. I heard the laws relating to a custom made vehicle changed to make it more difficult to title a custom vehicle in 2013, but have no source to verify that change.
Good luck!

I believe the "custom vehicles" designation is not for manufactured vehicles, rather a kit type replica. What's the purpose behind a special title?

I just want the benefit of not having to go through inspection every year. From what I have read, once a vehicle is titled as custom you no longer have to have it inspected as long as you own the car.

At the top of the form I attached, they define a custom vehicle as "anything modified from original manufacturer design." Either way, might be more trouble than its worth.
