Default I need a copy of my Tune pulled from the ECM...Houston

Is there anybody around Houston (centralish...) that can pull my tune out of the ECM in my truck?

It can be done without having to buy another license, can't it?

I'm kinda over the tuner that created the latest tune file...and I'd like to get some help from the forum by having it looked over.

I wouldn't expect it would matter much whether it was EFILive or HPTuners.

Thanks,

-Kyle

When I had the motor installed, the tune was for paid up-front so VATS and what-not could be turned off. Then I was paid up for the dyno tune. Except he didn't take care of the missing hardware like AIR and EGR and whatnot, so I couldn't pass inspection. I'm over him.

So, I paid a second tuner just to get it to pass inspection and change the VIN to match the dash plate. He refused this afternoon to give me his copy of my tune. So, now I'm over him...

That's 2 licenses I guess I'm bailing out on. Yay!

I'll tell you who they are later, maybe...

Would your buddy be able to pull my tune?

Thanks,

-Kyle

EDIT:

I see now, you're in Dallas...

any shop with hptuners can do it. i wouldnt pay them any more than about 10 bucks. it probably doesnt even take 5 minutes. Chuck @ Houston House of Power or KP Racing, LMR, the list goes on and on.

Thanks, Y'All!

I managed to get wrapped up a little early today and decided I needed to get a relationship started over at G-Rodz.

He pulled the tune for me. It was more than $10, though...He was enough closer that by the time I figure gas and travel time it worked out fine.

Now I can move forward from here.

So, the guy who refused to give me a copy of my tune, the one created by someone in that list above who hasn't replied to my text yet, that he altered a tiny bit, because he didn't want his work viewed all over the internet, apparently wasn't too worried about being beat up about being 'that guy' who wouldn't help. And to think, I gave out his name when someone was looking for a tuner...

I won't be able to make it today. I keep my car at work and the shop is closed today. What day is good for you next week?

I would not work with a tuner who would not provide me a backup copy of my tune.

There is no magic in there it's just a tune and won't work the same on another car, beside you as the end user have paid for the time to develop the tune you are entitled to a copy of it. What if you are across the country and have to replace an ECU???

So work that out with your tuner up front before you waste time and money with him.

This is one of the down sides of depending on another for your needs. I could not play this way I am a control freak and a cheap bastard, I'm gonna do it myself.
I don't like the idea of being bound to a tuner and if the guy is not good enough to keep me happy he does not deserve my business.

Any real secrets are the shortcuts and tools to do log analysis to make rapid changes instead of limping along making changes in dibs and dabs.

My Harley tuning mentor came up with an excel sheet that would take tune current settings and logging data from the dyno instrumentation and interpolate that into new tuning numbers that could be directly input. So you could get a bike (Dyno) close in 2 or 3 pulls and a 4th to verify. Insted of spending hours sneaking up on a Dyno tune. This automated a tune leaving the warm up and real world riding aspects of the tune the only manual adjustments needed. This also expedited changes to the exhaust or cams for comparison. That's the secret stuff...

I agree and so do most but there are the few that think they are something magic.
