We've sheltered in place and we aren't going anywhere. I'm in Baytown. So, its going to be interesting. So, I'm not out of the woods. It could go right over us if it wanted to. If there is a good part, my parent house is the highest point in the subdivision. There is a ditch which goes directly to Cedar Bayou which is right behind the house. When the ditch was dug, all the spill was used to build up the lots we're on. We sit 8' higher than all the neighbors. We're probably well over ~26' here.
The house I'm in is all brick, and its been through Carla and Alicia. We had 120-130 mph winds during Alicia. If this comes in East of here we'll see wind levels somewhere around or below those levels depending on how far east of us it is.
Although its been 22 yrs since Alicia, my parents had all their plywood, so the house is all sealed up. We have our generator, plenty of supplies, etc... If it comes in west of Galveston we'll get the dirty side, and we'll have it pretty bad. Could be 150mph winds.
I've been checking with various folks who have gone every possible direction. My little brother took ~24 hrs to end up south of Dallas from Baytown. This normally takes about 3.5-4 hrs.
At this point, there are tons of folks stuck out on the roads with no gas who have been in their cars with no supplies,etc... for 24+ hrs. Lots of cars are out of gas, overheating, etc... To me its better to shelter in place than to get stuck in the middle of the East Texas piney woods. Even up at Lufkin it'll be a cat 1 - 2. Also, the storm may stall in Deep East Texas and if it does, the folks up there who have evacuated will get 20+" of rain dumped on them....
I have some friends who may strike out tonight to go up 146 to Lufkin. In Corrigan its a parking lot with no help in sight. They went out to drain diesel out of tractors so they could leave tonight or in the morning. Its going to depend on what the forecast shows.
Anyway, last night it was really scary to see the winds at 180+ sustained with gusts to 215. It'll probably hit at 140-150. Anyway, as soon as I can get back on the air I'll post up...

Neighbor down the street is a police officer. My understanding is they just caught some looters breaking into houses down the street.

F***ing looters
Good luck to you man... I live in Baytown and took the 22 hr. trip to Dallas.
I live off Massey Tompkins in Chaparral Village. I didn't want to take the chance. The hell with the house It is insured. Again, good luck to you. May all looters burn in hell.
Later,
Marc

I just moved out of Chapparal Village 3 weeks ago. I lived in the back on Buffalo Tr.
Anyhow, we had plenty of generators, guns, ammo, food, etc... We're all fine. We've spent the last few days cleaning up. Its been Africa hot (118 heat index yesterday), and we were burning all the downed trees. So, it made it hot. But its all done now.
