JRA Kids Club enjoys awesome night of action at THR
The staff of the JRA Kids Club is recovering from what some would call a "wildly awesome" night last Saturday (May 27) at Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle, TX).

While JRA Club staff members were busy signing up nearly 40 kids for the first bike race of the year, The JRA Race Team, led by rookie driver - and JRA co-founder - Aaron Brungot, was busy turning in some great laps on the track.

Brungot piloted the #50 THR Hobby Stock to a second-place finish in the heat races.

"I was out there with a great race car and didn't want to push any issues. We used the heat race as the final practice for the feature, needless to say. It was a great heat race," Brungot stated.

Starting on the inside of Row 2 (from the third spot) was just what the team wanted for the feature. Brungot ran in second place holding off several challenges from behind. The #44 of Gary Chancellor, Jr. managed to get underneath coming out of the Turn 4. However, Brungot managed to hold the outside groove and fell back in line in third place.

When the white flag flew it was time for Brungot to make the move on second place Roy Loveday, who looked to have missed his mark in Turn 3, causing him to wash up the track in the middle of the corner.

Seizing the opportunity, Brungot took to the inside to make a run at the line. Heavy contact was made coming out of Turn 4 with the #50 THR Hobby Stock taking to the air for a short time. The cars continued to be tangled crossing the line as Brungot coming home in sixth place.

Sore from the incident just 10 minutes earlier, Brungot found himself waving the green flag for the heated action of the JRA Kids Club Bike Races. The nearly 40 kids provided some heated action themselves. Dale Caswell waved the checkered flag saw many a close races. With the last race of the night going to a photo finish! After looking at two different camera angles, it was deemed a tie by the JRA staff.

All participants walked away with an award thanks to Fast Track T's & Graphics of San Antonio. "The JRA Kids Club would like to thank Russell Gordon and James Cole for all their support of the kids' club," Brungot said.

Action continues Saturday Night June 3rd at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Texas. The JRA Race Team is working to repair the #50 HS to defend its current fourth-place points position, and JRA staff members will be busy with the Boy and Girl Scouts of Central Texas coming to town. There will be a Demolition Derby following the evenings racing events.
