Ok deal, prety reliable cars so people generaly ask a bit more than what you would pay for a similar american car with similar miles. Look in to the Chevy Malibus if your looking for a beater car, you can get a some what newer one with less miles for not very much, last body style btw.

My girlfriend has an LX, I say it would be a nice DD but make sure the ignition switch and the egr have been fixed. There was a recall on both of those things, we got the dealer to change the ignition switch but they wouldn't fix with the egr. Too many miles on the car 12X,XXX

4 dr or 2 dr?
Trade in hovers around at 4000-4500 on those cars. Id offer 5500 and take it home.
Condition Value
Excellent $6,435
Good $5,865
Fair $5,160
You also need to check and make sure the timing belt was serviced already...usually thats why they are selling them at that mileage. they dotn want to pay for the swap...
Its over average mileage by a significant amount. i would pay no more then 5800 IMO.

Use sites like KBB and Auto Trader to work up what you think is a better price for the car.

They have copies of NADA black books to see what trade in is on it..If you go to your bank chances are good you can get a copy of the black book for your car you are interested in....You just cant buy the book on the shelves at a book store..Its the "under" ground things they (dealers) dont want you to know so they can make money.

I'm convinced that kbb is there for dealers to bs the consumer into trading in their car for a lowball price. I don't trust them. I use the NADA when I'm ready to sell a car which is what most banks use. Then, just try to get loan value for it since many people don't have the cash to put down (or not willing to put down).
