Default question about buying a car with out an engine/trans..taxes..

If I bought a car with no engine/trans. Will I still have to pay the states "estimated" value?

only way you can get out of it is go have it appraised by someone who is a dealer. take that number($) with proof of the appraisal to the tag office and you should be ok, and explain to them about the condition of the car.
