My dad has given me his `84 Monte Carlo SS thats been sitting in the garage for about 15 years. It has a cracked head so I know a swap is instore but other than that and fuel lines/carb what will need to be checked/changed due to the long duration of sitting?

Doubt it's a cracked head, most of those motors actually had the deck surface of the block crack when overheated.
I'd plan on replacing all the seals in the transmission and pulling the fuel tank to clean it out at a minimum in addition to a new shortblock and carb overhaul.

I was planning to just buy a new tank and fuel lines and a bg carb. I have a 355 4 bolt motor already just need heads. The transmission was really my main concern in the equation. You should just buy this thing BP
