Default LS1 intake on a 5.3??

Like the title says, will a LS1 intake fit on a 5.3 engine?

If so, what are the advantages/disadvantages of it?

bolts right on.

advantage is that it works better at higher rpm, and has a lower profile.

Will I have to get a custom intake for the air filter? I was looking at a Volant kit.

Also, on my engine cover, it says Vortec but as a 5.3 with an LS series intake, the tall ugly one. I am correct on the motor right? Its a regular LS 5.3 right?

your 2001 Tahoe has an iron block 5.3L with aluminum 5.3L LSX family heads. Same heads that several guys port and put on 5.7L LS1 engines to raise compression ratio.

If you swap to an LS1 intake, you will need a custom intake tube set up. The throttle body is lower on the LS1 intake, your truck stuff will not fit it.

The truck intake is also tuned for better torque at lower rpm, since it is a truck and there is a lot of weight. Plus towing ability.

In other words, quit f-cking with your daily driver and just play with the Camaro instead

Heres more info for you...

FYI, Swapping an LS1 intake manifold on your 5.3 will not do serve you well at all in a 5500lb truck like a Tahoe... the truck manifold (while it may be ugly) flows far better than the LS1 intake where it needs to to make better tq for pigs like ours I researched this in depth, when I thought about intake swaps for my truck... I have decided to go with the 90mm SSR/TBSS intake for the sake of keeping longer intake runners, having a 90mm TB and plenty more flow. Hope this info helps.

Here some flow numbers...

-Sounds like you need to visit performancetrucks.net and cure the "I wanna make my truck fast" itch LOL....
