Default Question about Taxes in TX

I've made every payment on my car but its in my girlfriends name. I want to put it in my name now. Is there anyway to do that with out having to pay the taxes on the car again. I assume this is just like me buying it from her and there isn't anything i can do about it.

wont be able to do it, if its not fully paid off yet then you would have to refinance it in your name and re-register it

you can do it. you will have to refinance it but you can avoid paying taxes. when you register it mark it as a gift.

They changed that rule. They give your car a "blue book" value now and then its 6% on that I think. No more gifts

Otherwise it'd be my birthday, christmas present to myself.
