Default what tool do i use?????

ok guys, im putting new valve springs on my car, and i was wondering what kind of weird tool you use to hold the valves up so they dont fall into the block.
its some type of air compressor i think??????????????????????????

Its a special fitting that screws into the spark plug hole and allows you to pressurize the cylinder with compressed air....it will hold the valves up while you do the swap.

Another way to do it is to used the TDC method...which is rotating the crank until the piston is at TDC on the cylinder you are working on. That way, if the valve does fall, it will hit the piston and not fall into the cylinder.

is it just a normal air compressor or a special one from like jegs or something??

I've used cotton rope. Feed about 10 feet in to the cylinder, rotate the motor by hand until it's tight, change spring, rotate motor back, remove rope.

No special air compressor needed, just a normal coupling. There is a compression tester at sears for around $50 that includes an adpator to do this exact thing...thats what I did.
