Question Regeristing Car in Different County

Any of you have info for reg a car in CA in a different county. Here's the deal, I live in Sacramento county (boo biannual smog, ) My mom lives in a county in CA with no smog. Any one know the steps to reg a car up there? Do I have to put her on title? can I use that as a permanent address and still say I live here? She also said something about my insurance needs to be at her address as well. Any help guys, I'm sure someone has done this before.

Smog is regulated by the CARB and SCAQMD. Smog regulations are state wide but some rural counties do have some exemptions for farm type vehicles or vehicles used mostly on private land, like farms and ranches. I doubt this can be applied to your street vehicle. Vehicle registration is all the same anywhere which is why you can do it online, only difference would be a change of address, then you'll need two proofs of the address (phone, gas bill, etc..)

Yea, she's in a rural county. You only have to smog a car the first time it's brought into the state, not every two years.

Yes it will work. But your ins., registration and license has to be at that address.
