I am in the process of assembling my buddy's SBC. While using an adj pushrod and a test spring, moving the wipe pattern progressively toward the center of the valve stem, the bulky extruded alum rr's are bottoming out on the heads before I can tighten the poly lock to set the proper valve lash and preloed.
I suspected the the lifters bleed down too far and I primed the system till oil was coming out of each pushrod, no change. Now I suspect the the rr's are too big. I want to see if I can get a hold of one promag to see if it will clear the head and have the proper wipe patern with the appropriate pushrod length.
Let me know if have one that I can borrow. It won't be run, just used to test for pushrod length. If it works, I'll tell my buddy to sell the alum rr's and get some Pro Mags.
