Default Please help...tranny won't shift...

So lately I've been noticing that when I shift from fourth to fifth, there's a grinding feeling...didn't think much of it until today, when I was trying to shift from fourth to neeutral, and the shifter was just stuck. I stopped the car, tried to get it to first, second, nothing; the shifter is stuck, and if I try and shift all I feel is grinding coming from the shifter.

Car just hit 50K, had the tranny serviced, oil changed, everything...

So basically, is my tranny done for?

the only thing i can suggest is to give it a rev while trying to put it into gear that might help to get it to limp to a shop. Other then that it sounds like it needs to be torn apart.

fuucck...do you know any good shops in san diego? i've been taking it to Miramar Automotive for most of the basic stuff, but I figure they'll try to rape me on a transmission rebuild.

i saw that eddielb has his t56 go out also. talk to him and see what he came up with. But if you can rent a car dolly and have something to tow your car with i think CMS would be your best bet.

have no idea, it might be something inexpensive to fix. you can send it off to finishline transmissions, they are a sponsor here they have a couple of options. http://www.finishlinetrans.com/transmissions/index.htm
