vin check (not carfax related)

vin check (not carfax related) anyone ever have a car vin checked in CA?
my rx7 ive been doin my swap on needs to be vin checked and ive been lookin over the check list and notice that they want an engine vin too. i dont think the rx7s ran vins on there engines but im just afraid when if they pop the hood and see the swap then want me to go to a CHP office.
all the vins on the car match the paperwork i have but i still have to have it vin checked. think im gonna try to go to AAA for them to do it and hopefully they dont get all crazy.
afraid im goin to finish my car and not be able to even drive the thing.
