Moving to CA
I'm moving to Cali, in July (military) I'm wondering about the the smog and registration. I'm a NY state resident and I'm going to register it there if i can. My question is if i have out of state plates do i have to do smog checks? Also what mods do you guys have, I'm wanting to get Headers and ORY and GMMG (may go with catted Y just cause people say the GMMG sounds better catted) and I want to remover the EGR and AIR. Any thoughts on this would help me out a lot
Thanks in advance!!!!

If you want to get a Base Sticker (Military) you have to have your car Smoged at least in San Diego Calif before they will issue you one.

Dude, like storekeeper said, you gotta get smogged to get your base stickers. It doesnt matter what state your tags say on them. I'm at Edwards, and all CA bases require it. You'll need stock manifolds or shorties and cats... that is unless you are one of the lucky few to know "a guy". Good news is you'll probably only have to smog when you first get there. Once you have your stickers that say Travis your good. They last a few years.
*Before you go to any trouble of changing parts, go to MPF to get your stickers. They might not ask for a smog certificate. If they do, claim ignorance, then change parts...
