Default Compression In Ca

What Compression ratio are you guys running on your NA and H/C Lsx cars in California on 91 octane?

Im trying to decide on what heads to run and Im either going to be at 10.6:1-10.8:1 or 11.3:1. I also plan on running a 200+ shot of nitrous.

figure your DCR if you're really interested in skirting the edge.

What DCR can you run on 91 without having to pull out timing?

to be honest i dont' know if it's diferent for LSX motors due to their improved combustion chambers and such. But 8.5 is the limit on a f.i. traditional SBC, assuming adequate quench. On a large cammed motor this can be as high as 12.x-1 static. I imagine one of the board's sponsors could answer the question pretty quickly.

the nitrous is going to require pulled timing no matter what, and on that shot preferably a dedicated fuel system (race gas), unless you want to fill up with race gas before you go racing?

i am running 11.8:1 in my 408, but i have a rather low DCR, because i am running a cam with alot of overlap, with allows me to run 91 octane 25 degrees advance, and 550rwhp, if you want to run high compression, your going to need a rather large cam, to take cylinder pressure when its at it peak which is at peak torque.

How much overlap should i be running on my 408?

Do you guys have any problems passing smog (the sniffer test) with a large duration cam in your 408's?
