traffic violation help

traffic violation help Ok heres the situation.
(not me a friend)
Cop said he was doing 74 in a 55, there was another car going faster than us and we were doing about 65. The cop pulls my friend over license registartion blah blah blah. He comes back and says hes going to give him a break and write him for violation of maximum speed. (VC 22349) Meaning he was doing 74 in a 65, good right. I just wanted to know if there is anything he can do besides go to court and hope that they bring down the cost a little bit and take traffic school. He also does not have a front plate, thats not what he got written up for but I know that where they aim the laser when the radar a car. So if any one has any other ideas they are gladly appreciated.
My idea was go to the first court day and have them give you your options because alot of the time they lower the cost or something along those lines and also take traffic school so insurance doesn't get their greedy hands on any more money.

I went on the first day, when they read you your options, i had a 90 in a 65 the judge knocked it down $100 and let me go to traffic school. I would of fought it but the cop pulled me over for street racing and lowered it to speeding so i figured if he showed up i would be screwed.
