Default 2000 Camaro SS 4k miles!

First off I'll state I haven't been a very active member for some time now( in other words a lurker), but I have this opportunity to help out a friend who is looking to offload his SS. He's an older gentleman who bought this car with the best of intentions of enjoying it, however it's mostly just occupied garage space. The car is mint, literally. He still has the factory plastic covering the seats! He even left the foam steering wheel cover on the car. To say he was **** about the thing is an understatement. The basics I know of the car:
- Red, A4, T-tops, no bolt ons, completely stock. Has an extra front SLP nose/facia (not sure on this but could find out more) and only 4000 original miles, 1 owner

So basically I am looking for some help/advice/potential buyers for this car. He doesn't want the hassle of dealing with computers or tire kickers, so I offered to help. Volo auto mall, collector place near us appraised the car @. $28-30k. Is that even realistic? I'm trying to learn what I can about it, but i'm a motorcycle guy, not much of a camaro enthusiast. I'm hoping to get some pictures of the car soon. Any help is appreciated.

Tom
Edit: added picture of car

not for a regular Joe like me, but for a car as cherry as that would be ideal for a collector...thats if you can find somebody to pay the pretty penny for it.

Well that's the thing. The guy isn't looking to take a mint from it, but he also doesn't want to give it away to some 18 yr old who's going to thrash it. I know he has an idea of what he wants and it is much lower than the appraised price, he's at least resonable about it. Is this something that is better off offered on a more "open" basis (i.e. ebay, or possibly even like a Mecum auction?)

$25,000 is a realistic price for a 'new' car. A dealership may ask higher but they could be sitting on it for awhile. $25,000 would NOT be ripping anyone off and I feel it would be fair for both parties. Anything under $20,000 would be 'legalized theft' in my opinion. It's always up to the seller.

Just wanted to add that ebay is indeed a good venue for getting the car 'out there' for people to see. Hemmings is ideal for the collector crowd who could be very interested in a car like this. I'll stick with the $25,000 price and if the seller is willing to let it go in the lower 20's then that is fine, but NOT less than $20,000.
