Opinions Wanted on Potential '98 Camaro SS Purchase
I've been looking at a few modded 4th Gen F-bodies, but have fear that they could turn into problems after purchase. Therefore, I'm now considering a nearly stock car on which I will bite the bullet and spend money building up myself.
That said, I've come across what seems to be an extremely well kept example of a 1998 Camaro SS, and I want to hear everyone's opinion on what they honestly think it's worth.
Here are the details:
1998 Chevrolet Camaro SS - SLP
Original Owner
Mileage 69,000
Exterior Color: Red
Interior Color: Grey
Features:
SLP Lid
T-Tops
Leather
Power drivers seat
Power windows
Single factory exhaust
Recent work:
New 3:73 rear gear set
New Tires
New 2002 10 spoke aluminum wheels
New LS7 Clutch (300 miles)
Hotchkins front stabilizer bar
Power steering unit replaced
New battery
Recent 60K full check up, flush and replacement of all standard items
According to the owner, everything is in top shape, aside from a small paint crack in the passenger door of which I've seen a photo, and am not bothered by it. It's been a fair weather, garage stored car since new.

The guy wants $10,000... Is it worth it?

I just bought that identical car but a 99 back in August with 45k on it for 10,000. It was recently totaled and Ive been looking for a new one. I am starting to realize how much of a deal I got on that car because I knew the owner of the dealership where I purchased it. Im in the market again and cannot find a stock, low mileage SS for near 10k. Thats the amount my insurance gave me for mine and Im in the process of disputing it because everyone one Ive seen goes for alot more than that. In other words HOP ON THAT ****! They get harder and harder to find every day.

Well, given what I've seen available, and the fact that this guy is the original owner, I've decided to buy it. Told him I'd give him $9,800 and he accepted - Picking it up tomorrow.
Appreciate the feedback!

If as nice as claimed that is not unreasonable for a one owner, non-abused car, especially since it sounds like it was well-maintained. Big there. Hopefully it all checks out for you. Should be many pleasant miles ahead and you can't beat that for $9,800. As stated above, tough to find one-owner, decent mileage, well maintained cars for under $10,000.
