the car is a private party. Saw the car, stopped and asked if he would sell it and he said yes. Im thinking ill give alittle more than kbb bc i went out of my way to ask if they would sell a car they were intending on selling.

If the title is OK and no negative history I would also offer in the $7,000+ price range which puts you in slightly over KBB 'private party' territory. Over $8,000 is 'retail' pricing. Don't rush into it. You still need to make sure there are no issues with the car. You don't want to pay top dollar and find out it needs $2,000 in tires, brakes, repairs, before 2012 comes around. You would then have near $10,000 in a close to 100,000 miles 13 year old car. Be careful. Good luck!
