Default New ZR1's, paint innner barrels?

I some how managed to find a brand new set of OEM GM Chrome ZR1's for my SS on Ebay. I've always wanted these wheels since they are what came on my car originally, and love the look of them. Every time I've bought a set of used ones they always seem to have nicks or curb rash, and are grungy from brake dust on the inner barrels. This set is virgin and I'd like to keep them looking like it.

So my question is...should I have the inner barrels painted or cleared to help keep brake dust from penetrating into the aluminum? Is there any preventative maintenance that can be done prior to use?

Thanks in advance. Here are a couple of pics...
