Default How much wider?

Is a 275/40/17 to a 285/40/17. They are nitto 555s. I was hoping they had like a 305 but it jumps from 285 to 315. So instead of getting 275s like I always do, will I gain anything by going to the 285 at all or am I just wasting an extra 14 bucks/tire?

its only an extra 10mm wide, and will be slightly taller then a stock tire. If it were me i'd stick with the 275/40 and save some cash.

Keep in mind tho that the Nitto's do run smaller than most other tires

i would like the wider tires, but the taller sidewall would not be appealing (i like low profile tires for the most part). The difference in width would be 10mm as mentioned above but i dont know how much taller they would be in relation. I guess its up to you but i dont think you'll be gripping much better if thats your main concern.

yea by putting on those nittos they will actually be smaller once there on the ground anyway than the m/t...the m/t is wider anyways and does hook way better imo
nittos are just smaller then what they claim there size to be
